Gothenburg Championship 2026 - mini report, images and top 8.
19:43:16, 13/1 -26
Göteborgsmästerskapen (Gothenburg Championship) 2026 took place on Saturday the 3rd.
What format did we play? Well, Premodern of course!
We had some difficulty finding a venue that would suit our needs and for a while there it seems we would have to Abandon Hope. Luckily theimmortalsun saw us through our hardship by providing a venue and helped make this year's event even better than the last. A big shout-out to you!
32 extremely happy Premodern Players (and 1 supporter) showed up and after standing out in the cold longer than planned people were really eager to help set the tables, put the beer in the fridge and start slinging spells.
It was time for 5 rounds of swiss with a cut to top 8... Oh, we almost forgot to tell you!
We did some complimentary bribery to show our appreciation and to make the Gothenburg Championship extra memorable:
Well...
As we said:
It was time for 5 rounds of swiss with a cut to top 8... Aaaand... Here it would be lovely with a tournament report but, since Vintrastorm is a shitty writer, didn't take any notes and doubt that anyone would be interested to read about how they went 2-3 with Counter Rebels and laughed their way through the tournament with memorable matches and awesome opponents, all you will get is the following:
Thank you for reading this.
Thank you TheBumblebear who supported by being a helpful and (not very) Stern Judge
Thank you to everyone else who supported us but couldn't be there. You missed out.
Thank you to all the players for your patience, for all the kind and appreciative words you gave us about the event (once you got warm again) and for your willingness to make this the best evening it could possibly be.
This event really lived up to the "drink beer, play magic, have a good time"-feeling that we were aiming for.

Aaaand... *drumroll* without further ado, the moment you've all been waiting for...
Congratulations to Jonathan Agélii, who Stifle'd their way to the top with Stiflenought and went home with the beautiful trophy, a specially altered Quicksand (mandatory to play in future events) and last but not least: The honorific title of Göteborgsmästare!
A big congratulations to the top 8!
Scroll down to see who made it into the top 8, images of their beautiful decks and a lot of random pics.

See you all next year!
(Or maybe even sooner! Who knows what Haddock Crew will do during the summer.)

We did some complimentary bribery to show our appreciation and to make the Gothenburg Championship extra memorable:
- First up was the pins! They received a lot of praise so we're planning to revisit this next year.
- During round 4 Gajol gave out the random prizes that we had. Everybody got something! From an original Wooded Foothills to a big pile of Premodern cards or a package of cigarrettes, a token or a bag of chips.
- Finally we gave a prize to the person with the best looking indoor footwear. A Glimmering Angel to represent that beatiful feeling of gliding over the floor in leopard patterned slippers went to Amel.
Well...
